Links to Writers' Groups and Workshops
I am a member of Codex, an online group for
"neopro" writers of speculative fiction. Members must have sold work at professional
level, or graduated from a recognised genre workshop. Codex is full of
energy and enthusiasm, with a lively forum and critiquing system.
I am also a member of Critters, an online workshop for
speculative fiction writers. I recommend Critters to writers who are just
starting out, or making their first few sales, but it also has much to offer the
more experienced writer.
I regularly attend the Milford UK
workshop, held annually in Wales over a week in late summer. Attendees
must have sold at least one story or novel. The surroundings are
beautiful, the company is stimulating, and I definitely recommend this workshop
to any writers who can spare a week and can get to Snowdonia. For more
details, read my report on Milford 2005.
